The Health Improvement team deliver enjoyable, sociable walks throughout the week, each lasting approximately one hour. Walks start from various locations across the Wakefield District.
All equipment is provided and the walks will be suitable for all ages and abilities. All you need is sensible footwear and outdoor clothing.

We deliver sessions in the following locations: Pugneys Country Park, Thornes Park stadium, Castleford, Nostell Priory, Pontefract Park, Newmillerdam and Frickley Country Park.
I have worked in the Health and fitness industry for over 15 years and now specialise in cardiac rehab, exercise on referral and weight management. I love the outdoors and this is the reason behind me becoming a Nordic Walking instructor.
I have been delivering sessions since 2011 to a wide variety of clients; some who want to improve their fitness/medical conditions. I ensure my sessions are friendly and that options are available to all levels of health and fitness.
I have worked in the leisure sector for over 20 years and community health and wellbeing is now my focus. I lead group Nordic Walking sessions across Wakefield and I have also successfully completed training to be a delivery Partner of NWUK Programmes – Learn to Walk programme.
My sessions are suitable for all levels of fitness and we have a wide range of people on them! The social aspect of sessions is very important to me and we often go for a coffee afterwards.
